Meet on side road next to Mary the Virgin Church (Sat Nav L40 1TD), ready for the usual start time of 10.30am.
The walk starts from the side road next to Mary the Virgin Church L40 1TD. We head east past Rufford Station, and then head north at White Bridge and follow the River Douglas, walking by the river side and along field tracks. We leave the river where the Yarrow joins the Douglas and head west to the Rufford Branch of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Following the canal south we leave the canal at Spark Bridge and make our way to Mere Sands Wood. Walking through the easterly side of the wood we emerge at Mere End and walk via public footpaths to the A59. We now make our way back into Rufford and our start point.
