Start: 10:30am
7.5 miles / 12 km with 623 ft / 190 m Total Ascent
Meet at Alder Lane Playing Field car park, Bramble Way, Parbold (WN8 7HZ), ready for the usual start time of 10.30am.
We set off along the canal then head up through Fairy Glen to meet and cross the A5209.
Passing the Boars Den barrow, a bronze age burial mound, we cross fields to High Moor Lane and continue on past Pine Covert, Wrights Covert and Dwerry House to start the gentle climb to the windmill ruin on Harrock Hill.
We then drop down through the grounds of Harrock Hall, past Butteries Wood to meet High Moor Lane and on past Bowling Green House Farm to bring us out near Christ Church on Parbold Hill.
A short stretch along the road finds us a path leading down over the railway crossing and through meadows back to the car park.
Note: This is a change to the planned programme. The Hoghton Beamers Trail with Lynne Rowett will take place in November.
